My mechanic repaired my a/c (faulty air compressor) and also blew out my heater core last week since it wasn't heating well either. It did make it heat a little bit better, but the temp guage doesn't always work now. This was not so before. Might this new problem be connected with the work just done? Is it a simple fix (I am a single female but not afraid to get my hands dirty working with my car) or do I have to return it to the mechanic? Not excited about the last option.

You went to him for an AC problem and came out with a heater problem--bring it back to him-don't pay him a penny till he can figure out the heating problem or go get a 2nd opinion somewhere-heating problem could be a low coolant level, airlock, thermostat, heater core or an air blend door not functioning correctly and the list goes on-
