The other day crossed the battery cables on a 2001 Taurus; made a big jolt blow one fuse under hood put new one in blow alt & battery every warning light came on in the instrument panel, got remanufactured alt & new battery put them in & drove about 60 miles parked car about 4 hrs later went to start it it hesatated but started backed it up about a cars length turned off car waited a minute & wouldn't start again. Had alt tested is ok but the battery had only 11 amps in it switched out battery with new one but still does the same thing. What could it be?Fuse, link, battery cable wires?

So if I understand correctly the car don't start? Does it turn over at all? What volts did the battery have when tested? Get back to me and I will look over the wiring diagram for it and see what might be from there.

Car does start with new battery, car is running off battery only all electroinics are working with fully charged battery. Alt is not charging the battery after you start car & remove positive cable off battery car DIES instantly

AGGGGHHHH!

DO NOT DISCONNECT ANY BATTERY CABLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING!

I'm willing to type for an hour if that's what it takes to help you understand the serious damage you can cause. You're lucky the generator isn't working.

For now, look for a blown 15 amp fuse under the hood. You can also measure the voltages on the smaller wires in the generator's connector. One must have full battery voltage all the time. If you don't find that, keep looking for that 15 amp fuse.

Carry on racefan966.
