Ford Ranger 2001 XLT sometime it start and sometime it does not

After driving for a while if I stop for gas and go to start it does always start I have to wait for several minute up about 30min sometime then I turn the key and it just start

Check to see if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine when it doesn't start. Also, check the EEC relay.

How do you check for sparks and how do you know if it's getting if it doesn't start, lastly what is a eec relay and where is it located on a ford ranger 2001 xlt 2.5 engine

The EEC relay is the electronic engine control relay. It is located under the hood in the relay box. Switch it with another relay with the same part number from the box.

As far as the checking for spark and fuel, there are detailed directions on our homepage under the DIY section.
