2001 Ford Ranger wont switch to regular drive

2001 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive 142000 miles

when push button on gear shift lever, wont shift from overdrive to regular drive. Checked all fuseses they look good.

Chances are the switch itself is bad. You will need to open the steering column to access the connections and check for continuity through the switch.
