No oil in engine due to faulty oil light tapping noise

Coming from engine pulled over put 3 liters of oil in engine ...drove to nearest services ..car had loss of power and tapping noise continued...returned home on a flat bed lorry...been sat for a day ...do we try car to see if there's permanent damage to engine ?

car is a automatic ford focus 1.6

You need to start the engine to test. If noise is from bottom of engine, you would need to remove the oil sump to check the conrod bearings.
