Air condition in a '01 Focus

When I use my air, I get a very strong gas smell. It only happens when I first start my car or when I have stop go city driving, not on the highway. What might the problem be?

It's likely a fuel leak in the engine area that the fresh air intake is picking up.

Is there anything I can do to try to find the leak or do I need to take it to a pro?

I don't know what your ability level is but you're going to have to look for this with the engine running because it will evaporate quickly. You're probably going to need a professional.
