Hi, I have a fiesta 1.25 freestyle, 51 plate, 70,000 miles. Every time I switch the engine off my car leaks water. Sometimes most of the water comes out sometimes a little. Before it would just do it now and again but since last week it has been doing it more and more.

I have to top up the water before every drive, and the water that comes out is a rusty color, even if I drive the car for 5 minutes and then turn the engine off it will leak.

Get the cooling system pressure tested for leaks first, repair any leaks then flush the cooling system replace the thermostat and check for any suspect hoses that may need replacing as well.

I HAVE 2 JEEPS

BOTH WILL LEAK WATER IF I FILL THEM TO MAX CAPACITY

I'M GUESSING, MAYBE 2 CUPS OF WATER

AFTER THE 2 CUPS IS GONE----THE LEAKING CEASES COMING OUT OF MY "RADIATOR OVERFLOW DRAIN"

ALL IS GOOD THEN!

THIS IS NORMAL!

THIS IS CALLED THERMAL EXPANSION----IF YOU HAVE A 2 GALLON CAPACITY, AND IT IS FULL TO THE BRIM---AS THE WATER HEATS UP IT EXPANDS (VOLUME OF WATER IS MORE THAN ORIGINAL)IT WILL NO LONGER FIT IN THE SYSTEM----IT PUSHES OUT OF THE RADIATOR RELIEF CAP----IF IT WAS NOT A PRESSURE RELIEF CAP, SOMETHING WOULD SPLIT OPEN IN THE SYSTEM!

ONCE IT "FINDS" THE AMOUNT OF EXPANDED WATER IT CAN HOLD---NO MORE COMES OUT!

COULD THIS BE YOUR ISSUE?OR IS MORE THAN THIS BEING LOST?
