Trunk door won't lock

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, it is equipped with auto door locks. However, the trunk won't lock or unlock, but everytime i hit the unlock button i hear an unlocking noice. My guess was that it could be the door acutator.

Could be the latch remote control rod
