Unwarrented High Idle

2001 ford expedition 5.4
Good afternoon this morning my truck started running fine no problems I allowed it to warm up for 15 min. started off to work and within 5 miles my trucks idle went from 1500 to 4000 constant and would not lower. I went out for lunch and the idle was fine for my 20 min. lunch drive. What might the problem be.

did it cause the CEL to come on? if so, get codes read and in the mean time, lets wait and see if it does it again?
