2001 Ford Escort Just Put Gas While Still Pump Key Ignition Wouldn T Start

Just put gas in. While still at the pump, put key in ignition and wouldn't start. Engine light is on, even without the key in the ignition. Just put a new battery in, and a water pump. No lights, no sound, nothing. Still stuck at gas station!

If you have no lights or anything electrical, it sounds like the connection to the battery is bad. Make sure everything is tight and clean.
