when u change the transmisson range switch interruptor do u have to reset the car computer

The car is not shifting right and i was told to change the switch interruptor and that would fix the problem but its still doing it does that mean the transmisson is slipping

Do a scan for an electrical problem with the solenoids, this may not set a check light, do the scan just to be sure all is ok with this part of the system.
