Oil preasure

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 6 cyl 3.9 I started my pu yesterday morning and everything was fine got gas and headed into town my check eng light came on and I looked at the gages and the oil gage was 0 there was no oil presure at all and I could hear tapping. I turned around and went right back home really slow as to not over stress the motor. I shut the pu off and checked the oil and it was full. So I started it up again and I had normal oil presure again. What is going on I have no leaks. I have done a compleat oil change on the pu today with caster oil high mileage oil and a wix oil filter just in case.

Since the CEL turned on, get a scan done to retrieve for trouble codes to see if it is related to the problem.

The check eng lite went out when I shut off the pu will they still be able to pull any codes

Yes they should because when the CEL turns on, the trouble code would be stored in the engine computer (PCM even though it might not show now.
