2001 Dodge Ram Engine ping

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport with a 5.9L V8 Magnum. My motor has been pinging for a little while. i checked my oil and its almost bone dry! it still runs but im just wondering if i hurt my engine running it with no oil.

YES it will hurt your engine if it has no oil. You need to have it serviced or fill the oil. If you don't, you are going to cause internal damage to the engine.

Do you think i will need a new motor because the knocking has been going on for a while

Put oil in it and see if the noise stops. Hopefully, it will be okay. However, I'm not there to hear it. I hope you understand.
