driver's side floor is soaking wet, why does this happen?

IF it happens after a rain, check under the dash to see if the windshield is leaking. Also, check the weather stripping around the door.

IF it isn't after a rain, check to make sure the coolant level in the engine isn't going low. You may have a heater core leaking.
