2001 dodge durango steering problems

2001 dodge durango 4.7l V8. when i make sharp turns (left and right, mostly right) my wheel feels like its going to lock up, almost if my abs is kicking in. it feels like it almost "hops". i replaced the power steering pump yesterday, and still the same problems. my tires are in ok/perfect condition, no rubbing or wear marks. no warning lights are on.what should i check out, or do? thanks for any help

Your description sounds like it's stuck in 4wd mode. What was the reason for replacing the pump?

i figured that was the first thing to check out, it felt like it was losing power when i turned the wheel and drove. it turned out it was bad, so i saved myself there. but i dont know where to go from here.

Jack up one of the front tires and see if you can spin it by hand. If you can, try it again when they are turned fully left or right.
