2001 Dodge Durango RPMs flucuate

While driving cruise contr on or off the rpms can vary as much as 700-1000. When stopped at a light it will lurch forward then sometimes idle down and die.

Check for engine vacuum leaks and check the idle air control valve (IAC). The IAC is responsible for maintaining the engine idle speed.
