how do I change the gear oil in the rear differential?

You have one of two designs. It if it s traditional rear differential, the cover needs removed to drain all the fluid. Then, a new gasket needs installed and the diff refilled. The newer styles have a drain and fill plug. Remove the drain, empty the fluid, replace drain plug and refill.
