The Air Bag Computer detected a problem, set a diagnostic fault code, turned the system off, and turned the warning light on to tell you. Your mechanic will connect a scanner that can access that computer to read the code. That will indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis.

You have to fix the cause of the problem. If it's an intermittent problem, your mechanic can erase the fault code to turn the light off, but it's just going to turn back on when the problem occurs again. If it's a hard fault, erasing the code won't help because the problem is still there and will be detected as soon as you turn on the ignition switch.
