2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Harmonic balancer

Using a 3 jaw puller rod is bottoming out harmonic balancer not budging I am some what clueless on cars have a guy friend helping he did not take the belt off the harmonic balancer is that why it is not working

Take the belt off first then undo the bolt holding crank balancer on then partially reinstall the bolt without washer then use the puller.

They make a special puller for this one. The pulley actually has a seat in it and the hole that actually passes through is very small. The puller consists of a rod that is inserted into the hole and seats in the bottom of the hole for a place to push. HMAC300's bolt idea may work but it may also damage the threads. I would be careful.
