I have a 2001 Chrysler voyager with steering issues. There is a slight shimmy on occasion, but more importantly the steering will freeze up completely for a few moments especially right after it is started and it happens more often on a cold day. I have had the power steering fluid changed twice since the issue started.

This is called "morning sickness" and is caused by worn seals in the spool valve inside the rack and pinion assembly. GM had a really huge problem with this in the late '80s and early '90s. Chrysler has had very little trouble but when it does occur, the solution is to replace the rack and pinion assembly and have the front end realigned.

Thanks so much for the help. I have located an authorized repairman who can help replace these parts and helping to focus on the most probable issue is really helpful!
