Sorry. That's the cost of owning the types of vehicles the engineers force on us today. If you can be without the van for a few weeks, you might consider looking for a nearby community college with an Automotive program. We were always looking for live work to give our students real-life experience. They will be well-supervised, and most of the kids are very conscientious. Parts and labor will be a lot lower but the trade-off is it will take quit a while to be completed. They will only do engine work during the time of the year that is under study, otherwise they would be taking work away from the businesses in the community that hire the graduates. Also, because part of their day is in the classroom and other classes, they might only get to work on it a few hours per day or week.
