When I first turn on car- there's a shoosh noice. This noise happens frequently when I have the a/c on. The air is cold but I get a noise that sounds like it's releasing air. Any ideas?

Check to make sure the coolant is full. You may hear it filling the heater core.

Coolant is full. The noise sounds as if air is being released for 5 seconds-then another release noise for 2 secs. Very strange

That's interesting. The only thing I can think of without being there is to check for vacuum leaks under the dash. The vent doors are actuated by vacuum. Maybe there is a leak.
