front drive shaft,no gears???

2001 chev tahoe 4 wheel drive ,was driving when I heard this god awful loud winding noise ,got under ,seen that the caps blew off u joint and drive shaft flopping around took off drive shaft and rear spline ,put into reverse and lost all my gears what is the problem,and is this serious,thx. KB

Does the vehicle have all time 4wd? If you place it in 4wd will it move?

also my gear shift feels like its not grabing any gears,there is loose play,for D. R. P 123
