2001 Chevrolet Suburban Oil Leak

I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban. Oil is leaking and dripping down the oil filter. The filter is tight. Do you know where it could be coming from?

What is the best way to diagnosis?

Size of oil leak is about 2" on non porous concrete... larger on porous concrete.

Can you click a pic of where the oil filter screws on an post it?It sounds like the oil filter base is leaking where mounts to the block.

Oil leak continues.

I put some dye into it and its all over the filter and above it. However, until it's day I cannot get under it more. Needs to warm up so I can get it on jack stands.

seems there is something by the oil filter that I think has most of the dye but hard to say as the front drive line is in my line of sight.

I just found this thread and wonder if my issue may be similar.

This guy said it was the "oil cooler adapter gasket".

That is what seems to have all of the dye on it. Seems I may have to drop that front shaft to get to it.

I don't have access to a hoist... can only put it up on stands.

Can't see bellow the filter area In the pic is there two steel lines going to the area bellow wherenthenfilter screws on? What size engine do you have?

Engine is 5.3 and there are no lines as there is no oil cooler on it.

Your going to have to get a dye light and follow the leak back to its source.
