what is causing my truck to have white smoke from exhaust and under hood?

my 2001 Chevy S10 lost power going about 55 mph, no warning light, temp gauge didn't rise, coasted to stop now has white smoke coming from exhaust and under hood. Recently heater started only blowing cold air but otherwise no problems or indications of problems. What could be going on?

Check coolant level. Scan it for codes. Check oil for presence of water/coolant and vice versa. White smoke from exhaust usually means a blown head gasket.
