The ac/heater control (selector) stopped working. The fan speed and temp controls work. I tried a new control and it did not solve the problem. I think I have a vacuum problem. How do I troubleshoot this

Chances are it is a vacuum leak issue. What I suggest is to check under the dash for leaks. With the engine running, you may hear a hissing noise from where the leak is. You may need to follow the supply hose to the engine to check it too.
