Car passed New Jersey DMV inspection post repairs to mass airflow issues with emissions.
Three weeks later engine light comes on again and DX was po446
EVAP emissions control system vent control circuit malfunction!
told to dismiss gas cap since it passed inspection but, look into

A) Failed EVAP vent solenoid.
B) Fuel saturated vapor canister(?).
C) Purge/vent solenoid(s) defective.
D) Connector and or wiring.

Runs well as of now but poor mileage.
the "sales people" suggested as smoke test as well as the cost amounts for suspected sensors.

How do i know where to start without losing arm and leg to prices of possible unnecessary work/parts.

there is a round plastic canister mounted under the hood on the left front inner fender. It either on top or it's underneath on the bottom. It has two hoses going to it and you will see a solenoid there to.

This where I do initial check on "hoses/lines" for damage as well as the solenoid function?
I was told there's 1 in the air filter housing ($75.00),1 in the gas tank ($175.00 just for part!)

Good evening,

The most common cause for this is the canister vent valve being stuck closed. It is at the back of the car by the fuel tank. It is normally closed but commanded open by the ECM after the internal testing is done.
