Car runs good in drive, 3,2,1, but once i put it in reverse it just dies.,

Suspect planetary gear fault any problems with REV before this> like slipping? delayed shift?
What happens if you give it pedal to keep it running?

01 Monte Carlo LS, 199k, no problem with the transmission before. As soon as its in (R), it turns off. . Even when apply gas pedal.

Only answered one question need all info can give. Problem is internal need to have checked out by trained Trans Tech. At 200K ever have trans fluid changed?

not sure bought the car used, last year. if i would guess the answer would be no.
