What could cause it to run hot?

My 2001malibu keeps over heating, the whole heating sytem is brand new no smoke age ,no warning noise it's shut off on me. What could it be making the car run hot? Maybe electrical?

Did you replace the thermostat? if not do so and then bleed the cooling system and see what happens-let me know
