2001 Chevrolet Impala Gear Will Into Reverse Drive Other Shifts Try Push

My gear will not go into Reverse, Drive or and other shifts when i try to push my breaks....i have to manually use the little switch that is inside the hood to reverse and place it into drive. So the whole time i have to use my emergency and go bck inforth to change gears.

Are the brake lights working? If so have the shift interlock control solenoid checked/tested-start here
