Put the engine no.1 piston on its compression stroke/TDC and install the distributor making sure the rotor is pointing to the no.1 cap tower

Ras's instructions will get you close enough to get it started but you will need a professional scan tool to set it correctly. It's not timing that you are setting. The timing is not adjustable. You are synching the cam and crank signals and that takes a scan tool.
