Should we replace fuel filter before goimg to pump replacement?

- 2001 astro van stopped running .. had to have towed .. fuel pump runs when key turned on ..

I'd start testing with the basics. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure, engine cranking. I'd do some testing, before replacing anything. How long since a tune-up?
