My first question was on power steering pump on a 2001 Cadillac DTS, not an Allante, which is what was inserted in the original question. Come on guys, give me a break! All I want is a straight forward troubleshoot on a power steering pump howl after the garage has replaced the pump twice.

Why the attitude? You chose to be secretive in your first post and make Docfixit guess. Why would you not provide any details, observations, or clues, and expect an accurate answer? GM has a ton of trouble with power steering noise and they have no intention on developing fixes as long as the customer has to foot the bill. To narrow down the cause or cure, Docfixit asked you some questions that you didn't even bother to answer, so give him a break. He's good, but he's not psychic.

How was it determined that it is in fact a power steering noise? Aside from doing a pressure test on the pump, one could suspect a faulty pressure or return line causing a restriction. I would be concerned, that after two pumps, that it may not be a steering noise. Some other possibilities are the generator and the A/C compressor pulley bearing.
