can i fix a bad gauge myself doesn't work all the time

Some places actually fix instrument clusters. You would probably have to mail in your old instrument cluster.
Ebay may have an instrument cluster for your vehicle. I've had both good and bad experiences with ebay. Usually the problem was my own fault. Sometimes, I have very little patience.
Could me or you actually fix the fuel gage, it may depend on what is wrong? I'd have to check out the fuel gage sending unit and wiring circuit, go from there.
