Alert: Gascap may be loose. Message alert on 2001Buick LeSabre. Cap is NOT loose. Came on while driving and each time I start car. Is it serious and do I need a new gas cap

Check the filler tube. If it has a rust hole in it, the EVAP system will think the cap is leaking. Just craw under the vehicle where you fill the tank and you will see the filler tube going to a rubber hose then into your fuel tank.
