2001 Bmw 325 Started Car Early Sounded Puddering Much Power Cold Out About

Started the car early in the am, it sounded like it was puddering. Not much power. It was cold out about 40s. I turned around shut off. Then went back around five a night and it started and ran great..? I did put a x3 performance chip in it about a week before. Why did that happen? Thinking fuel pump..?

Next time it happens, cycle the key off, restart and see if it goes away. Let me know
