I have a 2001 Audi A8L with 127,000 miles - 40 degrees or below. Warm weather starting no problem. If left out in cold difficult starting or won't start. It is not the battery. Engine turns over fine. Sometimes if I play with giving it gas when cranking it will start - although rule is no gas pedal when starting.
