hi there i have a volvo v40 x reg and my lights only work on main beam

Have you checked the low beam bulbs to see if they are ok? Are you getting power from the headlight connectors, if not check all fuses.

Check the bulbs, fuses, and wiring to the lights. Also, check the switch.
