How do you know the compressor is working? Are you judging by the pressures you see or because you can see the clutch rotating?

Thank you for such a prompt response. Yes, the clutch is engaging but my mechanic says to go ahead and just buy a replacement kit (compressor w/ clutch, dryer, regulator valve? Etc.) So I will do that. I found a deal at discount ac parts but the reviews on that company are not good. I understand there are those people that just like to gripe but there were too many bad reviews to ignore so I will keep looking.
Thanks again and have a beautiful day!

You might want to hold off on that and bring the car to a tech that actually knows what he is doing. I believe that uses an internal clutch so you can't tell by looking at it if the compressor is engaged or not.
