I have a 2000 Toyota Echo my ex changed the oil and he used the wrong size oil filter on it. Can this hurt the engine if it's not leaking oil, the filter was only a little bigger than the one that is supposed to be on it.

If there are no leaks, you should be fine. However, I would remove it and replace it with the correct one. You'll lose about a half qt of oil. The wrong filter, may not have an anti flowback valve or something could be different. As long as your oil light is off, you SHOULD be okay, but replace it regardless.

Toyota has various sizes oil filters and some are interchangeable whereas some are not. The size does not matter but the seats might be different in depth and tyhat uis where the problem lies if any. It would be best to have the specified filter rather than any that can fit.
