Had engine just rebuilt. Driving home cel comes on and light is not flashing but changing intensity from bright orange to dull orange. Temp. Gauge needle moving up and down ever so slightly. Home now retrieved code 0753, wire malfunction solenoid A. Notice car not shifting in 1st and 2nd gear, shift manually and drives ok. Notice fans come on when key is in acc. Look at fans and find the ect not plugged in. Plug in connector now fans dont work until I unplug connector ect in the bottom of radiator. Unplugged temp. Control sensor near head and temp. Gauge goes to full cold. So basically 0753 code, temp. Gauge fiuctuating and cooling fan not working. Where do I start?

If none of this was an issue before the rebuild, I recommend checking ground connections. To me, it sounds like power is finding new paths to make a connection.

Start there and let me know what you find.

Thankyou for quick response. What is the best way to check for good ground and any idea what ground to start with. These problems did not exist before rebuild.

Start at the beginning. Check the battery terminals and make sure they are clean and tight. Check the connections at the rear of the alternator as well. Also, check to make sure the primary ground between the battery and the engine block is clean and tight.
