car cranks fine. idles fine but when you accerelrate it back fires and will hardly go...it continues to hardly go and continues to back fire and sputter?

does it have a distributor or coil overs on the plugs??

It could be a few things. Have you checked timing? Also, with that many miles, you could have a burnt valve, low compression... You need to check that to see if everything is within the manufacturer's specs.
