BET IT DIES IN "DEFROST MODE" TOO!
USING YOUR FINGERS AND THE ENGINE OFF!!!! SEE IF THE INNERMOST PART OF THE COMPRESSOR PULLEY WILL FREELY TURN.....IF IT DOES NOT, THE COMPRESSOR IS LOCKED UP
.....OR YOU CAN WATCH THE COMPRESSOR PULLEY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, WHILE YOUR BUDDY TURNS ON THE A/C---SEE IF THE PULLEY STOPS TURNING---AGAIN, IF THE PULLEY STOPS, THE COMPRESSOR IS TOAST
WHAT HAPPENS?

Is the MIL indicating? Seems the idle control systenm is not working correctly. The idling speed at operating temperature should be around 700 with or without A/C.
Misfiring or a non performing cylinder can result in that as well.
