Saturn problems

My 2000 saturn sl2 wont start every time I try to start it the car alarm goes off I tried disconnecting the battery cables and thats not resetting the system also my keyless remote has never worked.

Don't expect disconnecting a battery to turn an alarm off. It does just the opposite, it triggers it. Try locking and unlocking the driver's door with the key. If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the battery and have the key in the "on" position when you hook it back up.

Just to add to this one is this a factory remote or after market one?
