ac compressor will not engage

You could have low or no charge in the a/c system too high or low of pressure from a inop condensor fan restricted a/c line bad compressor,or bad expansion valve etc.Without testing for power at the a/c clutch with the a/c on and the car idling with the engine cold and also hooking up a gauge set to see what the pressure's are.Those are your starting point's.
