my instrument cluster is going crazy while driving

i have a 2000 pontiac sunfire 2 times within 2 weeks once car was in park idoling and all the dash lights flashed on and all the gage needles went crazy then went off and also while driveing it did this , car seemed to be running fine ,any reason why it wou theres also like a grinding sound that comes and goes like metal on metal

I didn't quite understand your problem? If you have internal engine grinding noises, I wouldn't drive it. Does it make the grinding noise only when you are braking? If so, check the brake pads.
