2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE... Battery light came on, and went off several times. Parked, and shut car off. came back out 10-15 min. later, started the car, but would not start. Assuming dead battery, I bought a new one, and car started right up, and ran fine so I had the alternator, benched tested, and passed. checked all wiring connecting the battery to the alternator...seemed fine, cleaned electrical terminal with coca-cola, and baking soda.

Have you checked to make the alternator had all the powerinputs it needs?ALso have you checked the voltage at the battery cables when the battery light was coming on?
