Hey guys. What are the symptoms of a bad GM power steering rack. Because I cannot turn my car to the left. I was perfect, the I wanted to change out the passenger side strut mount because it was popping. We did that and now I cant turn the wheel to the left I feels like something is binding up and stopping it. When it binds up, I turn the wheel more and it seems to "let it go" and turn. If im going on a road rolling it hardly does it, if im between standing still and braking is when it does it most.

MY car and info:
2000 Grand Prix SE
3.1 motor
138,000 miles.
4 wheel bearings
2 outer tie rods

has a bad lower control arm front horizontal bushing on that drivers side.
Both strut are bad.

I have no leaks under the car
the car does not sway side to side
there are no metal shavings in power steering resevoir.
and the wheel returns to about center without a problem. Thanks.

Your description sounds like a bad rack (binding), but since it did it after the repairs, I would recommend rechecking what you did. Chances are there is something causing the bind other than the rack.
