2000 pontiac grand am won't start after running out of gas. Put gas in and now it seems like the battery is dead, the battery light stays on. Tried to jump it but still will not start.

If you ran it out of fuel, the pump may have gone bad or the filter may be plugged. However, if the starter isn't turning the engine, that is a moot point. Check the battery to make sure it is charged and the battery terminals are clean and tight. If they are, check the starter to make sure it is good. If the starter is working and the engine still doesn't start, check fuel pump pressure (directions on homepage under the DIY section). Chances are you have a plugged fuel filter or bad fuel pump.
