I own a 2000 pontiac bonneville that just started showing high oil pressure. It pegs the needle to 120. Is this a major problem or a sensor problem?

How long since you changed oil and filter? Could be issue with oil pressure relief valve in oil pump?

Just wanted to add, you can use an analog gage in place of your oil sending unit, to double check, see if reading is the same?

I use pennsoil 10w30 and change oil & filter every 5000 miles. Currently have less than 2000 miles since last oil change. I'll look into the analog gauge and go from there. thanks for the reply
